Old database not connecting...HELP

I had problems connecting to server even after restarting service,reinstalling postgresql 8.2, so I went ahead and installed version 8.3 and now the service is starting when I load PT2. However, I can't connect to my old database (from 8.2).

When I start PT2 it says DATABASE does not exist, cannot connect to database 08001.

Is there any way I can connect to my old database? My 8.2 Folder in my harddrive is 9gigs so I assume that is where all my info is.

This isn't going to work because you can't read an 8.2 database with 8.3. When did you backup that database last?
