so that you can see the ODBC entries.

Sweet! That worked.

I was having the same problem of ODBC entry being empty when I tried to tie into the postgres db that had been installed w/ pt3.. So I followed all the instructions laid out here of uninstalling pt3 and postgres and then installing from the link you provided.

Now I get this error message: 7 - SQLSTATE 42P01 ,any time I try to do anything with this newly installed postgres. I get the same error code each time but the text in the error box varies depending on what function I am trying to perform but it's similair as it all pretty much says such and so does not exist "version info" , "players", "prefs", ect.

Any Suggestions?

You can't open a PT3 database in the PT2 program, they are completely different databases. What exactly are you trying to do?

I have been using pt2 fine with the access db, now I just want to upgrade to the postgres db. I thought the instructions you gave were on how to install the postgres db to use w/ pt2 with the understanding that later if one wanted to use pt3 he would just go ahead and install pt3 with out postgres. Currently I am just trying to get postgres to work in pt2 and am not sure why I am getting the error messages?

You need to convert the PT2 database to PostgreSQL format. See the "After PostgreSQL is installed" part of this FAQ

OK... I just got the following error message when trying to convert my db.

Error creating table - ERROR_MSGS

7 - SQLSTATE = 42PO7
ERROR: relation "error_msgs" already exists;
Error while executing the query

Any thoughts?

Sorry, but I wasn't able to get it done via that link. I try instructions w/ no success.

When I get to pgAdmin III I don't see a display option that allows me to view a system objects check box. On to the next step... I connect to the PostgreSQL db server 8.3 and a list is populated in the upper right box and maintenance database template1 is on this list. I click that and get a properties box that comes up but can not find any schemas or table options to edit.

Any suggustions?

Is there a "+" sign next to the "template1" database name...on the left side of the window, not in the properties section. If so, click on the "+" sign, do you now see "Schemas" under the "template1" line on the left side of the window?

Ok... now I can see some options. Only I don't see template1, I hit the +sign then I have Databases (1) I hit that +sign and I have postgres name there under which I could go to schemas and public options. Should I make the changes here or should I be seeing template1 here?
